Run, Cary, run! This tableaux captures the exciting plane chase scene from
the famous Alfred Hitchcock movie, "North by Northwest". Using a rotating base, the tableaux
can be turned to view each of three scenes from the plane chase. The first scene shows
Cary Grant running down the road, with the plane swooping in close behind him. The second
scene shows where Cary has run into a field, and is trying to hide from the plane overhead.
In the third scene, the plane has crashed into a passing truck into an enormous ball of flame,
as the two teddy truck drivers are shown hurriedly leaving the truck to run for safety!
The Cary bear in this scene is looking back, shocked, towards the flames, preparing to run once more.
The bad guys haven't caught him yet... but he hasn't caught up with the truth yet, either!
Using three 6" tall Schulte mohair bears to display the three scenes, each bear is securely jointed for a range of
posing possibilities. The Cary bear in the first scene has a surprised open mouth and is in a running pose,
the second Cary is crouching on the ground with bent legs and arms, and the third is coiling back in surprise
with wide eyes, covering his face from the heat of the explosion.
The plane in the tableaux hangs overhead, chasing the bear in scene one and flying past the bear in scene two. As the tableaux is
turned, the plane just keeps chasing poor Cary! The wooden base has been handpainted in acrylics and sealed,
individual stalks of greenery have been attached in permanent positions around the three scenes.
This tableaux has been done specially for the 2006 Teddy Bear Artist Invitational (TBAI) show in
Binghamton, NY. More information about this show can be found at the TBAI web site.
